About Project

The project is being implemented in accordance with Instructions of the President of the Russian Federation No. Pr-1991 dated September 25, 2019.
The project named "Establishment of Centers for Reproduction and Conservation of rare speciesof birds of prey" provides for the construction of an International Center for Reproduction and Conservation of Rare Large Speciesof Birds of Preyon the territory of the Milkovsky district of the Kamchatka Krai.
The KamchatkaCenter will bring together the best international experience in the reproduction of rare birds, including methods of the Russian-Kyrgyz Falcon Nursery "Muras" (established in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan with the assistance of specialists from the United Arab Emirates).
The nursery was created in 2022 with the cooperation of associates from Arab countries and specialists from the Russian Federation, aimed at rehabilitation, conservation and reproduction of rare speciesof birds of prey.
The total area of the Center will be up to 300 ha*.
For the first time in Russia, the Center will organize the reproduction of gyrfalcons - the most valuable and rare species of the Falconiforms.This species is listed in the Red Book of Russia in connection with the rapidly declining population, mainly due to poaching aimed at further sale for falconry.
The project implementation will create a base for the restoration of the gyrfalcon population in Kamchatka.
The production target of the Center provides for the output of up to 1000 birds per year. In addition, the Center will rehabilitate the gyrfalcons seized from poachers.

About Project

The location of the “MurAs” Nursery was chosen taking into account the local climatic conditions similar to the Kamchatka Krai’s climate - the white gyrfalcon’s homeland.
Since 2017, in a short period of time, 400 falcons have been grown.
Currently, the “MurAs” Nursery contains 400 pairs of falcons, 200 of which are ready to move to their homeland - the Kamchatka Krai.
The total area of ​​the falconry project is about 300 hectares. The target is to breed up to 1000 birds per year.
The nursery is aimed at the rehabilitation, conservation and reproduction of rare species of birds of prey.
over 500 new individuals

Unique Technology

The nursery has a unique technology for breeding and raising birds. For them, conditions are created that are as close as possible to their natural habitat.

This applies to all stages - from the selection of a pair and nesting process to offspring hatching and raising. Each stage takes place under the close supervision of our technologists. Since 2016, more than 500 new individuals have appeared in the nursery.

About project

The houbaranursery construction project in the Republic of Kalmykia is being implemented in accordance with Instructions of the President of the Russian Federation No. Pr-1991dated September 25, 2019.
Up to 1,500 houbaras are planned to be released into the wild every year.
On the basis of the houbaranursery, a Competition Center will be established, where the boarders of the Kamchatka Falcon Center will be able to show themselves in international events.
Events at the Competition Center are planned to be held on a regular basis.
The main task of the nursery is to preserve and restore the population of some species of houbaras listed in the Red Book as an endangered species of rare steppe birds, in particular, the houbara.
